President's Message

Dear Members and Colleagues,

On behalf of the AHRMNY Board of Directors, I would like welcome everyone back from summer and convey best wishes for this fall season.

We are pleased to start off this academic year with a successful educational webinar and would like thank Ann Gaffey, 2015 President-elect for ASHRM, for providing an informative webinar on the use of technology for care transitions. As more health care is provided on an outpatient basis, seamless transition of care is an issue that the risk management community needs to fully understand. In addition, our Education Committee has been diligently working to plan the remaining educational events for the year. Please be sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming Half Day Conference to be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Mount Sinai Beth Israel’s Podell Auditorium.

I would also like to highlight the great work done by our Publications Committee, as each Risk Management Quarterly (RMQ) continues to provide our readers with relevant and useful risk management information. The Publications Committee is now looking to feature the achievements of our members at large through the new Member Spotlight column. Also new to our journal is business card size advertisement space. Since the RMQ can potentially reach over 300 risk management professionals, advertising in the RMQ can provide good exposure for any company. More information on the Member Spotlight and Business Card Advertisements can be found on our website.

As always, we remain grateful for the participation and contributions from our members and sponsors as the success of AHRMNY has not been possible without such support. For those interested, there is still time to join a committee and sponsorship donations are certainly welcomed. Again, please visit our website for more information on committee and sponsorship opportunities.

This year’s annual conference of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management will be held at the end of this month in Anaheim, California. Keeping in tradition with previous years, AHRMNY will be holding a chapter cocktail reception at Roy’s restaurant. For those attending the conference, please RSVP for this event on our website and we hope to see you there.

AHRMNY is also looking forward to seeing you at the December half day conference.

Best regards,

Gehan Soliman
